Striking a balance between Beyonce and Jay Z OTR2 and The Global Citizen brand.
Working closely with Global Citizen and Fulwell 73 to shape the physical and digital scenery and graphics of the Mandela 100 Festival.
The second important factor was that the stage needed to deliver the headline act performance of Jay Z and Beyonce’s OTR2. Although this was not the full touring show, we needed to conserve key elements of the performer wall, the tracking video screens, the stage lifts and the dual catwalks.
The final element was that this show had to work well for the 70000 people in the audience, but also had to look good on TV as the show was streamed all over the world with the purpose of spreading the message of Global Citizen to end world poverty.
The main features were the iconic red circle logo design of Global Citizen. This was featured across the back of the main stage together with a skyline of Johannesburg scenic piece on the mainstage.
On the side stages there were more smaller circle pieces that were complimented with the video content looks. Finally, we developed a folded mirrored presenter backdrop and themed lectern for the speakers to stand behind.
