STUFISH returns to the Royal Albert Hall for the fourth collaboration with The British Fashion Council. The 2021 ceremony is the first with an audience since the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects on the journey and change of the last two years.
This years’ show features performances from Kylie Minogue, Charlie XCX, Griff and longtime dancer of Madonna, Lil Buck. This year STUFISH not only created the interior design, but also collaborated on the red-carpet design.
The theme was reflection and reimagination not only due to the pandemic, but at the state of the world and the industry as a whole and how to move towards a new more inclusive and sustainable future. The centrepiece consisted of a ceiling cluster of chandeliers with surrounding video screens, so that the evening’s entertainment could be echoed across the auditorium for all audience members.
Many of the materials used in the design were mirrored or silver, to give the illusion of repetition and depth.
Both stages had stage side seating to allow the audience to become more immersed. Whilst classic banquet style seating was positioned between the two stages, with the back end of the room having long and tall bar tables. This range of seating changed the balance of the room, allowing for a more energetic nightclub feel against a more traditional ceremony.
After dinner, the awards began, interspersed with performances concluding with Tommy Hilfiger winning the Lifetime Achievement Award. Much of the evening was a celebration and dedication to Virgil Abloh. After the ceremony, the after party began. Our design included a DJ booth space, to carry the thematic design through to the end.
