Roland Kaiser returned to the stage for the first time since the Covid-19 Pandemic to perform across Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Spring 2025.
The set design was inspired by a desire to create a refined, sophisticated visual environment that pays tribute to Roland Kaiser’s illustrious and enduring career. The goal was to mirror his timeless appeal with a stage that radiates elegance and poise, while seamlessly incorporating contemporary elements that bring energy and freshness. The result is a meticulously crafted blend—rooted in classic architectural principles yet embracing modern technology and design—capturing both the artist’s legacy and his continued cultural relevance.
One of the primary challenges of the design was crafting a bold, technically adaptable set capable of delivering a series of dynamic visual moments—while preserving a clean and minimal aesthetic. The stage was carefully engineered to conceal an array of theatrical features, including a motorized header embedded with a matrix of lights, a dramatic kabuki drop for the show’s opening, a rich red curtain that emerges upstage for the finale, and two active orchestra pits filled with live musicians. Each component was seamlessly woven into the stage’s architecture, ensuring that functionality and spectacle enhanced—rather than disrupted—the overall elegance and visual clarity of the design.
