Queen delivered a spectacular one hour show as part of the Global Citizen Festival 2019 in Central Park.
Following the success of the 2018 Global Citizen Festival in South Africa with Beyoncé and Jay Z, STUFISH were excited to be able to design a version of the Queen and Adam Lambert touring show to the iconic NYC festival in Central Park.
The event held on the 28th September 2019 helps to continue the work of Global Citizen, a charity focusing on the effort to end poverty by 2030 and combat climate change.
The creative idea was to blend the iconic red arch of the Global Citizen logo with the splendour of the Rhapsody Opera House. We wanted to make sure we could capture the full scale of the Queen production whilst still being very clear that this was the Global Citizen show. We also wanted to make sure that fans would see all the major highlights of the touring show as a reward for their pledges and work done in volunteering for the Global Goals.
We worked closely with the team at Global Citizen to expand the in house video screen and add a massive additional lighting rig that would capture and emulate the epic nature of the Queen look.
The video content was reworked to fit the large upstage video screen. We wanted the show to start with the upstage red arch as well. The video design team digitally recreated the image of the arch and animated it blowing apart to reveal a special version of the Opera house.
Throughout the show the band used the whole stage and connected the audience together between the 60,000 in the park and the people watching it on TV/online. STUFISH worked with the same creative collaborators as the tour.
‘Headliners Queen + Adam Lambert delivered a riveting performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” at the Great Lawn, still riding off the high of the 2018 film.’
