Electric Daisy Carnival was a three-day long festival in Las Vegas starting on the 22nd May 2022. Our role was to conceptualize and model what such an industrial structure might look like, how to make that space as visually enticing for the attending crowd, and then work with the lighting designers on how to utilise lighting tech to enhance the space for a night-time audience.
The bassPOD zone plays host to the heavier, bassier music at the festival, and usually has a more sci-fi aesthetic. The theme for the bassPOD at EDC 2022 looked at the intersection between nature and technology to create a green-energy factory from the future.
There are then four smaller cylindrical tanks that each play out mapped content to fit the scientific theme of the cylinders, including hydroponic plants and liquid growing tanks. Connecting these cylinders is a series of aluminum duct piping that carry fictional air and liquid between the tanks, unifying the different elements to create an immense futuristic factory. Additionally, each of the cylindrical towers holds programmed pyrotechnics to be intermittently released to wow the crowd below.
