Cruise, is a story of a man diagnosed with HIV in the 1980’s.
It opened in the West End’s Duchess Theatre on Tuesday 18th May 2021, marking the first new show to open since the easing of restrictions across the UK. A milestone for the arts, Cruise is the first new show in 14 months to welcome audiences back to theatres in England.

Cruise is a celebration of life, queer culture, and survival. Based on a true story, the play depicts the emotional last night on earth of Michael Spencer, a young man who has been hedonistically counting down the clock following his diagnosis with HIV.
However, waking up the next day still alive, Michael must now confront what kind of life he must live. Cruise is a kaleidoscopic music and spoken word tribute to the veterans of the AIDS crisis.
The stage and set are inspired by the many doors, windows, corridors, pubs, clubs, streets, and places that the journey of the story passes through.
A combination of scenery, a revolving kinetic sculpture of apertures, together with neon lighting and video projections created by Stufish, allow the intimate stage setting to constantly evolve throughout this 1.5hour narrative
