The stage design for this year’s Global Citizen show in Kigali Rwanda embraces the beautiful local arts and crafts to give it a modern flavour within the context of a contemporary music show set inside the modern BK arena.

Drawing on Rwanda’s rich tradition of colourful fabrics and dexterous basket weaving, the shows contextual presence within this venue is achieved by engaging young local artists and artisans to integrate contemporary interpretations of Ketenge fabrics and Agaseke peace baskets into the design to fit alongside modern lighting and LED screens.

Taking advantage of the lightweight nature of the scenic elements, the design goes through a transformation halfway through the show. This gives the headline artist room to perform their set within a bespoke environment without one compromising the other to jointly celebrate the values and aspirations by being in this beautiful part of the world.
