Celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by surrounding the Queen Victoria Memorial with a stage large enough for Britain’s biggest party
STUFISH helped the celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II by designing an ‘in the round’ stage for a free concert on The Mall, paid for by the BBC.
With over 1.2 million people applying for tickets to see world-famous acts including Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, this was a show, and a location, like no other.
The look saluted the nautical cues of the Queen Victoria Memorial, and surrounded it with a cantilevered roof covering an area of 1300m². The longest roof beams are 20m with a cantilever of 12m.
The structure allowed the crowd of 10,000 to enjoy clear views from The Mall to Buckingham Palace. Footage was streamed live to giant screens along The Mall, in local parks, and worldwide.
