The Celebration Tour, celebrates four decades of Madonna and her iconic music.
The tour marks the fourth production and stage design that STUFISH have created for the Madonna over the last twelve years. Opening at the London O2 Arena in October 2023, with 79 shows in total lined up across Europe and America.
The runways extend out from a circular main stage, whose shape is inspired by the wedding cake from the iconic 1984 VMA performance and the circular form of a clock. The layers of the clock can revolve and lift up and down, creating a time machine that transports the audience through the narrative of the show.
The physical set is designed to bring the audience closer than ever to Madonna with a structure that weaves and meanders between seats and stood spectators.
An internally illuminated window frame forms the central motif of a time portal. At moments in the show looking into the past around the time of the 1980s Aids outbreak in ‘Live To Tell’: to the present where she sings to her son David as he plays guitar from within the frame during ‘La Isla Bonita’, and then into the future where Madonna flies around the arena surrounded by a sea of lasers for ‘Ray of Light’.
See through video screens surround the staging creating the extruded facades of the city with constantly changing projected imagery.
This spectacular use of theatre, mixed with technology, choreography, special FX, video imagery and light all come together to holistically tell the story of this 40-year journey.
